Why handmade shows on a plain ring

On an ornate piece, handwork hides inside the ornament. On a plain band there is nowhere to hide, which is why a plain band is the honest test of a silversmith. The metal is formed, joined and finished by hand: run a finger around the inside and the surface is very slightly alive rather than dead flat, and the polish has depth instead of the uniform mirror a tumbler produces. It is a quiet difference, and it is the entire difference.

Sterling, and what 925 means

Sterling silver is 92.5% silver alloyed with 7.5% copper, because pure silver is too soft to hold a ring shape. That alloy is also why sterling tarnishes: the copper reacts with sulphur in the air. Tarnish is surface-only and polishes off completely — and it is the simplest proof that a ring is really silver rather than plated steel, which never tarnishes because it is not silver.

Sizing and stacking

Rings are made to order, so tell us your size at checkout. If you are between sizes on a plain band, take the larger one — a narrow band is more forgiving loose than tight. It reads as unisex, works on any finger including a thumb, and is built to stack: two or three together, or one alongside a stone ring, without any of them fighting.

Care

Wear it. Silver worn daily tarnishes far less than silver left in a drawer, because skin contact keeps the surface moving. When it does dull, a silver polishing cloth brings it back in under a minute. Store it in a closed box or pouch rather than open air, take it off in chlorinated pools, and keep it away from bleach and household cleaners.

Is this solid silver or plated?
Solid 925 sterling throughout. Plated rings wear through at the back within about a year of daily wear; this one does not.

Will it tarnish?
Eventually, and that is normal for sterling. A polishing cloth takes it straight back.

How long to the US, and are duties included?
